The Delaware State Police (US) has taken delivery of its fourth new Bell 407. This aircraft replaces a Bell 206-L4 LongRanger in the State Police fleet. Edwards & Associates, a Bell subsidiary, will install law enforcement mission equipment with final delivery to the Delaware State Police in early 2004. Captain Jeff Evans of the Delaware State Police stated that the reason for selecting the 407 was that the aircraft was ‘a better fit for our mission profile’. The police force uses its helicopter fleet for law enforcement, search and rescue and EMS missions. “The 407 has a great ability for tight landings in urban areas, increased horsepower and a long line for hoisting rescues,” Evans continued.
