EADS CASA and Lockheed Martin have signed an US$ 87.4 million contract that formalises EADS CASA participation in the United States Coast Guard Integrated Deepwater System (IDS) Programme. The initial contract between Lockheed Martin and EADS CASA is for the procurement of two CN-235 MRS MPA (Medium Range Surveillance Maritime Patrol Aircraft). Delivery is scheduled in 2006. The contract also includes a US$ 4.15 million option for spare parts and integrated logistic support (ILS), as well as an option for six additional aircraft. The potential value of the contract, with all options exercised, is approximately US$ 300 million. EADS Socata showcased aircraft such as the turboprop TBM 700 at the recent Asian Aerospace airshow, held at Changi airport from 24-29 February 2004. The TBM can be equipped with mobile medical surgery equipment for medevac missions, says the company.
