Eurocopter has reported that this year's Heli-Expo in Las Vegas (15 – 17 March 2004) was the most successful trade show in Eurocopter's history. During his first press conference in the United States, President & CEO Fabrice Brégier pointed out that 2003 had been a good year for Eurocopter. One of the main targets for the future is expansion and even stronger commitment in the United States, where a new plant in Mississippi is opening this year while a strong American partner is being sought to help introduce Eurocopter's military products to the U.S. market. Marc Paganini, President of American Eurocopter, announced that his company had captured a share of 49% of the U.S. civil and parapublic market in the previous year. In total, 110 helicopters were reported sold during the exhibition and 39 of these bookings were for Eurocopter models. The customers committing for new Eurocopter models include ten EC135s for Air Methods and three EC145s for Vanderbilt Medical Center. Pennsylvania's Life Lion aeromedical service ordered the upgrade of two AS 365 Dauphin helicopters to N3 standard. Other operators selected Heli-Expo as a platform to reconfirm their cooperation with Eurocopter. Lee County took delivery of one of its two EMS-configured EC 145s, the ‘first to enter service in the United States’. The German Border Police announced the purchase of ten used Super Pumas and their upgrade to L1 standard. Eurocopter's and Turbomeca's North American subsidiaries signed a declaration of intent regarding customer support agreements for the North American market during the exhibition. Just as Heli-Expo closed, the United States Coast Guard decided to upgrade its 96 HH65 Dolphin helicopters with Turbomeca engines. This work is to be carried out at Eurocopter's new facility in Mississippi.
