Air Methods expands community-based operations in Virginia

Air Methods Corporation has expanded its community-based operations in Virginia. Recently, the company (in coordination with Medicorp Health Systems in Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA) commenced operations with a BK 117 twin-engine helicopter.

David Dolstein, Air Methods' senior vice president of the LifeNet Division, stated, "We are pleased to have finalised our expansion initiative in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We know that these services are vital to each community and, combined, our Richmond and Fredericksburg operations will serve a population base of several million people and will transport patients to tertiary hospitals throughout the region."

The Fredericksburg operation initiated service from nearby Stafford Regional Airport and will also maintain a presence at Mary Washington Hospital. The programme provides surrounding communities improved access for critically ill or injured patients.
