Following intensive technical and operational evaluation, the Royal Norwegian Air Force has selected the ‘new generation’ Heliraft design for its helicopter fleet.

Working closely with the RNoAF, RFD Beaufort was able to incorporate a number of improvements to the design of the Heliraft. Product enhancements were focused on canopy closure and cold insulation issues.

The Heliraft was, says the company, the first liferaft specifically designed for helicopters and originally entered service with North Sea operators in 1986. The RNoAF initially selected the raft in 1996 for its Sea King fleet as part of a jettisonable liferaft system.
