The Swedish Coast Guard (KBV) has signalled its intention to replace its three aircraft platforms and sensor equipment.
KBV currently operates three CASA 212 aircraft with Maritime Surveillance System. Surveillance and reconnaissance are carried out along the entire Swedish coastline, as well as over lake Vänern and lake Mälaren, around-the-clock, throughout the year. In addition, there are assignments over international waters in other parts of the Baltic Sea area as well as over the North sea.
KBV needs a ‘better internal environment, increased capability and more flexibility’ and has decided to replace the CASA aircraft and procure replacements.
An RFQ may be released in December 2003, with a delivery plan estimated from 2005-2006.
