Supplied with modern technology and innovative medical equipment, a new intensive care transport helicopter is now flying for the TEAM DRF air rescue alliance.

An EC 145 flew its first mission on 14 November 2003. It is stationed at the München-Großhadern air rescue centre and is operated by HDM Flugservice GmbH, a partner within TEAM DRF. The University Hospital München-Großhadern and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), unit Munich, provide the medical crew. The twin-engined EC 145 replaces the Bell 412 which has been used to date.

“The TEAM DRF helicopter, with the ‘Christoph München’ call sign, is the only helicopter in Southern Bavaria on 24-hour standby for inter-hospital transfer of intensive care patients,” TEAM DRF told www.air-rescuetek.com. It also transports physician teams and medical equipment. On special request from emergency physicians, this intensive care transport helicopter can also fly emergency missions at night.
