Heli-Dyne Systems, Inc. confirmed that its new hoist recording system had been purchased by the US Coast Guard and NYPD and demonstrated it to www.air-rescuetek.com during the Helitech exhibition in Duxford.
The waterproof lightweight (8lbs) system allows a pilot to monitor hoist operations by giving him/her a downward ‘bird’s eye’ view (90 degrees field-of-view) of the winchman and any rescue operations.
With a 7-inch LCD colour TV monitor (which can accept NSTC or PAL video), and the choice of widescreen or normal format, the unit will record, play back, transfer or loop through video. Approximately 10 hours of video are available on hard drive.
